Stellar Summer Alienation, moving image,05min05sec,2024
A solitary summer journey into the Shuanglong Cave in Jinhua, Zhejiang, becomes a somatic passage through silence and emptiness—an encounter with a space suspended between reality and hallucination. Steeped in the ancient lore of scholars and immortals, the cave feels like a temporal rift, guiding the viewer into an otherworldly dimension, where bodily perception dissolves into strands of light and time.
Alien-like figures distort and sway to the off-beat rhythm of dislocated music, their twisted movements synchronized with the uncanny pulse of sound. Through a deliberately jarring fusion of contemporary visual language and fragmented audio textures, the work attempts to capture a phenomenological “altered-state experience,” where the senses are reorganized by the foreignness of space.
By using the cave as a medium, the work redefines the relationship between body and space, invoking philosophical inquiry into the boundaries between reality and fiction, time and embodiment. In this displaced and resonant spectacle, the artist raises two essential questions:
“Where am I?” and “Who am I?”—
For here, within the cave, both time and space collapse into emptiness.

Dear, deer,
《Deer Dolores》|
Dear, deer, moving image, 03'28'', 2024
Music: “Deer Dolores”|Composed and Performed by Nana Ouyang
Dear, deer is a co-created commissioned work developed for Nana Ouyang’s solo exhibition 241042–Love Letter. The piece is built upon Ouyang’s original composition “Deer Dolores,” with visual and animation direction by artist I-Chun Chen. Together, the two artists crafted a poetic dialogue between sound and image—an audiovisual love letter unfolding frame by frame.
The animation traces the music’s progression: the introspective solitude of a cello, the gentle layering of voice, the lift of pizzicato textures, and a climactic swell before dissolving into stillness. The deer, imagined and abstract, becomes both a symbolic addressee and a vessel of memory, holding space for distance, yearning, and tenderness.
Through this collaborative creation, the artists respond to the EP’s core concept: in a time of instant communication, this is a deliberate return to the quiet sincerity of handwritten affection, reimagined through music and moving image.
